Fashion, meet function. More than ever, this season’s casual footwear works no matter what the weather brings. The new styles are tough, fashion-forward, durable and even sexy depending on how you wear it. My favorite styles for women AND men? Workboots for either gender, Man Uggs strictly for the guys.
Let’s be clear: this is NOT the look at all.
The new UGG style, Butte, is cool, sleek, rainproof and Glamazon-approved. My favorite boot of the season for Men, hands down.
This style of boot is perfect for men and women; and should look rugged and relaxed (don’t tie your shoelaces all the way up). While ladies shouldn’t pair them with a frilly, ruffled skirt, don’t be afraid to mix them with a sweater dress or leggings. The juxtaposition of girly and gritty is so alluring.
Yes, you read right.
Leave it to one of my favorite plus-size designers, Monif C., to create the mother of all dresses—a sexy, jersey stunner that’s literally 22 outfits in one!
The Marilyn Convertible Dress, inspired by vintage dresses, can be styled every way you can think of—as a baby doll top, a dress with sleeves, a halter dress, a skirt and the list goes on. It comes in a variety of fashion-forward hues (like mustard, purple and cobalt blue) and in two different lengths: floor-length and just above the knee.
I know what you’re thinking. You can usually only get one GREAT look out of a convertible dress. The rest looks so odd and uncomfortable that you end up only wearing the dress in one style.
I assure you that every variation of the Marilyn Convertible Dress is as fabulous as the rest. Monif C.’s website even says that customers came up with even more glam ways to wear the dress at Curvy Girl’s Night Out, on the spot. Amazing!
Don’t take my word for it. Check out the beautiful models below and then get your hands on one for $195-$235 at monifc.com. Then, I want you to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with pics of the way you wear your Marilyn Convertible Dress. Can’t wait to see them!
Since Ferocia and I come across the most drool-worthy, dreadful and just plain crazy products in the Fashion & Beauty closets, we’ve decided to start a new feature called “From the Closet!” where we pay homage to the samples—from the new Lanvin dress to the must-have MAC Black Style collection—that wind up in our office.
What better way to start than with the Moschino Cheap & Chic half booties/half sandals?! I first laid eyes on them for a major fashion story and fell head over heels in love! They’re the mixed love child of sandals, wedges and booties. What’s next? Half sneakers/half peeptoe flats?!
Delightfully strange, they’re the kind of heels that beg for a second, third and fourth look. Pure crazy, otherworldly, awe-inspiring, avante garde, fashion-forward genius!
True to fashion trendsetting form, Solange rocked them out and about with her sis at a press conference for the Samantha Thavasa Disney Collection. Love the hairstyle too! She looks stunning.
They retail for about $835; yeah, I’m waiting for Aldo or Nine West to copy them too.
What do you think? Are they incredible or just…weird? Discuss.
